The wave differential equations of displacement and velosity propagating in linear-elastic functionally gradient material (FGM) with constituents varied continuously and smoothly have been established. Their characteristic equations have been found. The compatible relations between stress and velocity; stain and velocity; varying ratio of stain and acceleration; varying ratio of stress and acceleration along characteristic lines have been obtained.
