The core-dominance parameter is calculated and investigated for the correlation with the core/extended flux density for two samples. But the two samples show different dependence of flux density on the core dominance parameter.Based on the relativistic beaming model, a relation between core-dominance parameter and the core/extended flux density is derived for extragalactic radio sources. The relations show that the core flux density is linearly correlated with the core-dominance parameter while the extended flux density is not correlated with core-dominance parameter when the core-dominance is lower than unity, and that the core flux density is not correlated with the core-dominance parameter while the extended flux density is linearly correlated with core-dominance parameter when the core-dominance is higher than unity. The relation obtained here can explain the different result obtained from two samples.
