In this article a fuzzy matter - element model for evaluation of regional grain security is established by the matter - element analysis and the fuzzy set theory on the basis of evaluation index system of grain security. As a case, the model proposed above is used to assess some provincial grain security of the six provinces in the central part. The results show that the fuzzy matter - element method is practical for regional grain security evaluation.
