Leaf-mining jewel beetles belong to the family Buprestidae of the superfamily Buprestoidea within the order Coleoptera.In this study,main taxonomic groups and species diversity of leaf-mining jewel beetles were summarized;their biological and ecological characteristics,including feeding differentiation,relationship with host plants,economic importance,population dynamics and life history were analyzed;current progress on molecular biology of leaf-mining jewel beetles was also introduced.Finally,problems and prospects in the study field were put forward.
