9,10-Bis(p-alkoxystyryl)anthracenes (DSA-OCn) with various length of alkyl chains (n =1-10,12,14,16,18) are synthesized and the chain length dependent Aggregation Induced Emission (AIE) behaviours are systematically investigated.The absorption (UV) and emission (PL) spectra of DSA OCn in solution has no obvious changes with the change of the terminal alkyl chain,but the emission spectra of DSA-OCn in a queous media (V(THF)/V(water) =1/9) appear larger difference.When DSA-OCn derivatives with the longer alkyl chain length (n≥7) the emission spectra peak at around 550 nm,and with the shorter alkyl chain (n≤6) at the end of the compound of the f1uorescence spectrum peaks appear bigger difference (about 500 nm).In addition,when DSA-OCn derivatives with the longer alkyl chain length in solution has a low fluorescence quantum efficiency (Φ).It indicates that the length of the alkyl chain can control their Aggregation Induced Emission (AIE) behaviours and optical properties.
