GIS application in basin health assessment is currently hotspot of basin research,which mainly focuses on basin water environment,soil erosion and basin ecosystem.This paper discusses the concepts of the theory of GIS and base-system of water,the development of GIS and its main function,makes comments about GIS application in health assessment of basin and summarizes the problem of GIS application in basin health assessment and its application prospect,the GIS technology play a important role in basin health assessment was revealed.
