This article analyses the requirements of the construction of resource-saving and environment-friendly society put on the urban and rural planning. Firstly, it discusses the opportunities and difficulties which Wuhan confronts with while constructing the resource-saving and environment-friendly society. Then it presents an understanding to the influence urban and rural planning will bring on the resource-saving and environment-friendly society, and looks into the future of resource-saving and environment-friendly society and the goal of urban and rural planning. With Wuhan as an example, it focuses on making a systematical summary of the reflection on the work of urban and rural planning under the background of constructing resource-saving and environment-friendly society.
