About the original meaning of＂Mian Man＂in The Book of Poems,various ideas were raised,among which some suggested for moralization,some deviated much from reasonable interpretation. Only the idea of selecting wise-men is more reasonable. The certainty of the poem＇s protagonist,the implied meaning of key words and the reasonable inferences,have all proved that the poem is related to the system of wise man selection in Zhou Dynasty. Two kinds of practices in the system prevailed at that time, namely,recommendation from the state and selection in the county. And the latter one was indicated by Mian Man.
