Global warming caused by greenhouse gas emission has become an important environmental issue facing humanity. Carbon footprint, based on life cycle assessment, measures CHG emission generated from services and commodities. By introducing carbon footprint into tourism study, the paper conducts a LCA of hotel accommodation services, which is an important part of tourism industry and develops a calculation model to study carbon footprint. An empirical study is carried out in six four-star hotels in Kunming. The results show that carbon footprint is mainly generated in the operation stage, accounting for about 72.71% of total life cycle, including energy consumption, waste release and refrigerant leakage, among which direct energy consumption accounts for 60.98%. The major influencing factors are consumption volume and emission coefficient. The scale of a hotel does not have obvious impact on carbon footprint. The study is conducive to searching opportunities for reducing the emission of greenhouse gas in the process of designing, producing and supplying tourism products and providing theoretical support for "energy conservation and emission reduction" in tourism industry.
