For guaranteeing video quality, FEC （Forward Error Correction） can be adopted to improve the reliability of video data transmission. Reed-Solomon（RS） code is a kind of important error correcting code, and it is capable of correcting stochastic and gusty errors, so it is widely used in DVB（ Digital Video Broadcasting） systems and other fields Of digital communication. A RS error correction experiment based on MPEG-4 video encoding is presented. It can be applied in video communication of Public Switched Telephone Network（PSTN）.
