This paper introduced application status of top-down method in China and abroad, as well as its principle and main construction technology. Key technologies are introduced in detail from dewatering and water stopping technology, soil transportation, adjacent building protection, diaphragm wall construction, construction of the middle column and pile, monitoring and so on. At last, this paper expounded the latest development of the top-down method and prospect.
