With a beginning of interpretation of the basic definition of ＂the economic history＂ ,the paper focuses on the explanation of academic innovation in the economic history theory and method and its main indicatings,based on a broader perspective at macro-level. Then it develops an in-depth analysis on the unique characters and academic advantages of the history of Chinese economic thought as a specific discipline and gives examples to show the early contributions of Chinese economic thought to the world economics and economic policies. Finally,it returns to explore the main features of current development of Chinese economic history,so as to provide Chinese economic history studies and the economic academic development with some reflections.
