Objective ：To evaluate the safety and effect of Xiaoke Pill combined with metformin hydrochloride in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods ：The observation group used Xiaoke Pill and Metformin Hydrochloride Tablets treatment. There were 56 patients in the observation group and 50 patients in the control group. Metformin Hydrochloride Tablets was only used in the control group. Results ：The observation group＇s total efficiency was 94.64% and the effective rate was 62.5%. The total effec- tive rate of using metformin alone was 78% and the effective rate was 46%. The observation group＇s side reaction was 11.64% which was lower than the control group＇s 42%. Conclusion ：Xiaoke Pill and metformin combination is worthy of the clinical widely use in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, which can not only make treatment effect better, but also can reduce the gastroin- testinal intolerance and other side reactions.
