The light transmitting concrete （ LTC ） is composed of cement based matrix and optical fibers embedded in the block, which transfer light from the light side surface to the dark side.The compositions, preparation process, mechanical properties, light transmitting properties and microstructure of the light transmitting concrete were introduced.The future research direction of light transmitting concrete was prospected.
