The formation of clusters in nuclei is a fundamental aspect of nuclear many-body dynamics and it is also one of the most interesting phenomenon in nuclear physics. In this paper, we review the nuclear cluster development and some important nuclear cluster models. And based on the investigation of the inversion doublet bands of 20Ne within a microscopic cluster model, we discuss a new concept, nonlocalized clustering, for understanding the cluster structures in nuclei. In the new picture (container picture), the clusters are nonlocalized and move around in the whole nuclear volume, only avoiding mutual overlap due to the Pauli blocking effect. The two-alpha correlation for the ground state of 12C in the container picture is also discussed. The proposed concept of nonlocalized clustering or container picture is completely different from the traditional understanding of the localized clustering and it opens a door for exploring more complex cluster structures in nuclei.
