On Sep. 7, 2004, an earthquake with M5.0 occurred in Minxian-Zhuoni of Gansu. We analyzed its basic parameters, distribution of intensity, characteristic of damage and seismogenic tectonics, summarized the causes of high intensity and strong damage. It is thought that the earthquake has the same seismogenic structure, the Lintan-Dangchang fault, as the Minxian Ms5.2 earthquake on Nov. 13, 2003.
