Water resources assessment as a basic work of planning, utilization, development, conservation and management of water resources plays an important role in the development and sustainable utilization of water resources. The development course of water resources at home and abroad is reviewed and its characteristic in different era and development tendency are also analyzed in this paper, which aims at promote the work of assessment of water resources.
