Horizontal water release pipeline was an important guarantee for harvest in dam land and safety of silt dam.The influence factors of horizontal pipeline cost included section form and lining structure.A formula for calculating economic section of horizontal pipeline was proposed by introducing the ratio between concrete,boulder strip and stone masonry.The calculation results showed that the cost of improved horizontal pipeline was 1.17%~2.22%lower than the square shape horizontal pipeline for concrete cover structure pipeline,and the cost of improved horizontal pipeline was 2.28%~4.19%lower than the square shape horizontal pipeline for boulder strip cover structure pipeline.
