The basic conceptions and research topics of prognostics and health management （PHM） technology are introduced. Furthermore, the architecture of prognostics, methods, standards and current status in PHM research field are analyzed. After concluding the hot spots and technical difficulties, we indicate the challenges from academic and technical research, and the developing trend of prognostics and health management.
