By offering diversified resources for foreign language teaching, the internet, with its rapid expansion and wide availability, has attracted due attention in foreign language teaching. Based on the analysis of the teaching of the reading course in western news publications, this paper attempts to explore the development of students＇ intelligence awareness together with the application of web resources into the instruction of this reading course and tries to make clear the advantages as well as problems of utilizing web resources in teaching the reading course in western news publications.
