Cephalostachyum virulentum Y. M. Yang et Fan Du sp. nov. , a new species of Cephalostachyum t rom Bapo and Silaluo at west slope of Gaoligong Mountain located in west Yunnan was described and illustrated. It is similar to C.fuchsianum Gamble, characterized by sympoidialia, erect culm, shining stem surface, no main branch, 7 - 9 leaves on branchlet, leaf obovate lanceolate, leaf 20 - 25 cm long and 4 - 4.5 cm width, leaf back glabrous, petiole 5mm long, leaf sheath violet, without setis oralibus, obviously differed from other species of Ceph-alostachyum.
