An improved V - BLAST decoding algorithm is proposed. According to a certain criteria, the receiver searches through the full signal space and obtains a subset. The final decision is made by selecting the proper signal vector from the subset with the maximum - likelihood （ML） principle. This decoding algorithm can achieve near - ML performance at low complexity.
