Reclaimed water for green land irrigation is an important way to solve the shortage of water resources around the world. By reviewing relevant literatures at home and abroad, the general situation of research on the effects of reclaimed water irrigation on soils and microbes were introduced. In general, the effects on soils of short-term use of reclaimed water for soil irrigation is not significant, but long-term use will change soils fertility and microorganisms population density, which lead to accumulation of salt (especially Sodium salt) and heavy metals. Meanwhile, reclaimed water irrigation has no significant effect on plant growth and development, but will increase mineral element content in plants.
