“Wuhouzheng Zihai” （《五侯鲭字海》） is one of the books recording the largest amount of characters in ancient China in the Ming Dynasty, up to 53712 charac-ters, which can provide a lot of fi rst-hand data for the study of variant forms of characters and folk characters. Today, the Unicode code is the only international code with 74616 characters, which is the fi rst choice in the process of transporting ancient books into text. Characters can’t fi nd in the Unicode code called uncoded word. This article researches 20 uncoded words in “Wuhouzheng Zihai” （《五侯鲭字海》）, in order to pinpoint their source, pronunciation and meaning and give reference to the conforming of their property and the edit of dictionaries.
