London is commonly known as a world's creative capital. Ever since the London authority defined the "creative industry" in 1998, many countries and regions have been developing the specified cultural and creative industries as London does. In 2005, the first range of creative parks was registered in Shanghai, which opened a gateway to the flourishing development of cultural and creative industries. In the era of cultural economy and knowledge economy, we choose London and Shanghai as our research objects to conduct a comparative analysis on the spatial distribution and dynamic mechanism of the cultural and creative industries within these two international metropolises. Furthermore, we put forward some countermeasures for Shanghai on the comprehensive development of cultural and creative industries.
