136 topsoil samples were collected from Wuhan Donghu High-tech development Park, and the concentrations of Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn and Cr were determined. Results showed that average content of Cd exceeded provincial background value, and also exceeded the second-level of the National Environmental Quality Standards of China in most part of the study area. The average concentration of Cu approximated its provincial background value. Although the rest of soil heavy metals were lower than background value, accumulations were observed in a fraction of study area. The results of geostatistical analysis indicated that the auto-correlations of all of the six heavy metals were weak and high values were mainly found in the center and northwest of the study area. According to the spatial distributions of heavy metals, the accumulations of Cd, Cu, Ni and Cr were mainly derived from emissions of manufacture in this area. The contents of Pb and Zn were determined by natural process, which means there was nearly no import from outside. The relatively high value of Pb could be the result of transportation here. However, the excessive Zn possibly came from some agricultural measures. Nemero Synthesis Index specifically indicated that the study area was polluted. As a result Great attention should be paid to the pollution situation of the park with necessary control measures.
