This paper systematically introduced the characteristics of red mud composition,and red mud＇s application in remediation of heavy metal pollution and agricultural production.The rationale of red mud usage was provided for the red mud-based fertilizer and the adsorbents of Cu2＋,Zn2＋,Cd2＋,Pb2＋.The paper also put forward that alkali should be divorced from red mud before its exploitation in order to avoid secondary pollution to the environment and realize zero-pollution resources reutilization of red mud.
