英文摘要：

Objective To explore the effects of iron deficiency on insulin-like growth factor 1 of rats. Methods 20 rats were randomly divided into experimental group with low-iron diet and control group with normal diet （n = 10）. The hematological parameters, erythropoietin （EPO）, IGF-lof the rats blood were observed. Results Four weeks later, he- moglobin and ferritin of the experimental group decreased, and there were statistical differences between two groups（P〈 0.05）. We successfully made rat iron-deficiency anemia model. The weight of both groups＇ rats increased, but the experi- mental group had a modest growth. IGF-1 of experimental group was obviously lower than those of control group, and there were statistical differences between two groups（P〈0.05）. Conclusion Iron deficiency can inhibit the secretion of IGF-1 and lead to growth retardation in rats.
