The vertical 2-D sediment numerical model is established in this research. Different from previous research, the importance of the SIMPLE algorithm and free surface in the study of vertical 2-D model is emphasized in this paper. The boundary conditions of water and sediment near the fiver bed and the dynamic visualization of flow motion issue are discussed in the present study. This model is also applied to the simulation of flow and sediment transport in front of the dam of Xiaolangdi reservoir.
