In this paper, we are the first to empirically study the relationship between water In- dustry regulatory reform and residents＇ happiness by using the Ordered Probit model, and evaluated the influence of government regulation reform on the residents＇ happiness, which is based on the mi- cro data. The study shows that water regulatory reform on promotion of residents＇ happiness had pos- itive influence, but price regulation presented inverted U type; the effects between water reform and residents＇ happiness had obvious heterogeneity, both ones had been greater urban residents; water regulatory reform mainly influenced residents＇ happiness by water regulatory impact on price.
