Selenium （Se） is one of the beneficial elements for plant, which could improve the growth of plants and enhance the ability of plants to resist the stress of adversity. In the present review, the research and application literatures refer to biological basis of Se improving plant resistance to stress were summarized. This review focused on the new findings of the prevention and control of Se to agricultural plant diseases. The purpose was to provide theoretical basis for the study and application of Se in the field of agricultural ecological safety.
