Grounded theory is a research method of theoretical construction in qualitative research, making up for the stylized empirical research process, which can help researchers extract the basic theory in the study field from the phenomenon using inductive method and constantly enrich and perfect the theoretical system of personal information management. This paper elaborates the characteristics of the personal information management activities, analyzes the grounded theory and its feature and the application in the library and information science and information behavior field, discusses the possibility of introducing the grounded theory method into the study of the personal information management activities, and expatiates the specific research programs and steps. Finally, the paper points out tt~e problems that should be paid attention to, which attempts to promote the development and innovation of personal information management and information behavior. [ Result/Conclusion] By defining the problem, collecting data, analyzing data and constructing theory of grounded theory, the relationship among personal information management activities factors and motivation can be explorated deeply. Using the grounded theory in the study of personal information management activities can makes research more scientific and standardized and promotes the theoretical innovation of personal information management and information behavior research.
