The research significance about the mesoscopic scale surface of coal structure was introduced, the cent form theories was made use of in lie the research of mesoscopic coal surface structure, fractal dimension was adopt to show the surface roughness. Atomic force microscope was used to experiment,combine with the experiment result, two-dimensional power spectral method was adopt to research the fractal characteristic of coal. The agreement of fractal dimension between calculafional result and theoretic result is good. Result shows that use power spectrum and the cent form theories to research the fractal characteristic of coal surface structure is feasible. 8figs., 10refs.
