An allergen is an antigenic substance that can induce the body to produce specific IgE antibodies. Dust mites are a key cause of anaphylactic disorders such as allergic asthma, rhinitis, and dermatitis. This review describes advances in the study of monoclonal antibodies against dust mite allergens. This paper also describes the use of those monoclonal antibodies in allergen quantification, purification and identification of environmental allergens, screening of allergens for epitopes, locating allergens, and the treatment of allergic diseases.
