The reasons for adding storeys and functional reconstruction of existing building are briefly introduced. Structural styles applied to these kinds of reconstruction, research advances both at home and abroad as well as projects accomplished by the authors in latest years are introduced as well. Some existing problems and works needed to be researched further are presented.
