Thesis defence is an important method of postgraduates＇ graduation assessment and a way for the graduating students to display their research and clinical experience. Thesis defence was first applied in the teaching of summer school for postgraduates, ＂Masters＇ Forum on Current Advances ＆ Progress in Surgery＂, and achieved satisfactory results. Therefore, thesis defence is a feasible assessment pattern of summer school teaching for postgraduates.
