英文摘要：

Ambient air quality standards are important specifications for air quality monitoring, assessment and management. This paper systematically discussed the formation, current status and development of China’ s air quality standards, focusing on the contents and backgrounds of the evolution, as well as the differences with the standards in some typical organizations and developed countries. The results show that the pollutant items and standard forms are updating constantly, the concentration thresholds of pollutants are more stringent and the foundations and procedures for revising standards are more scientific. Despite some gaps between the standards of China and developed countries, the new standard will contribute to establishing a more complete ambient air quality management framework in China.
