The Power System Stabilizer (PSS), a component of the excitation control system for the synchronous generator, transmits signals to the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and thus controls the low-frequency oscillation among generators. The PSS is important to the safe and stable operation of the power system, and its parameter adjustment directly affects its function realization. The methods for PSS parameter adjustment are recommended from the point of view of engineering project and research, and its development is prospected, It is proposed that more study be carried out in the aspects of software and hardware configuration, system operation, and the performance of on-line parameter adjustmeht for PSS.
