There have been records （ZHAO Er-mi,1979,1998; YUAN G of Coluber spinalis in bibliography in Xinjiang herpetology fauna uo-ying,1991;SHI Lei,2002; WANG Guo-ying,et,al,2005）, but no specimens have been collected. So nothing was known about distribution and condition of this species. It was found in Altay mountain region in Fuhai county, the northern Xinjiang,this was the first reliable record of this species in Xinjiang,
