To reduce the complexity of the sphere-decoding algorithm, a modified sphere-decoding algorithm in the complex domain based on probability computation was proposed for multiple input and multiple output (MIMO)system. The performance and the complexity of the modified algorithm were compared with those of the classical sphere-decoding algorithm through simulation. With a high signal-to-noise ratio, the complexity of the modified algorithm is only a quadratic polynomial of the number of the transmit antennas.
