UWB attracts great attention from the academe and the industry because of its super characteristics of higher data rate and availability of frequency spectrum, lower cost and power consumption as well as wider applications. The basic concepts of UWB wireless communication, the channel model and the structure of transceiver are presented, the other short distance wireless communication method is compared. The technology standards of UWB (MB-OFDM and DS-CDMA) are analyzed and compared. Finally the current application and the future development are also discussed.
