Geldanamycin, being a kind of ansamycin antibiotics that takes heat shock protein Hsp 90 as targets possesses multiple bioactivities. Its anti-tumor activity has made it to become a hot research spot in the field of tumor therapeutics. Research progress on its biosynthesis and structure reformation as well as regarding it as future development direction of new type antitumor medicine was summarized in this naner.
