Based on the observation data of lower layer wind speed and wind direction collected in the city cluster of Pearl River Delta （ Panyu）, Pearl River estuary coastal area （Xinken） and the countryside （Qingyuan） during Octo-ber 2004, the features of vertical profiles of wind in the atmosphere boundary layer of Pearl River Delta were analyzed and compared in the paper. The results indicate that the vertical profiles of wind of the city cluster, Pearl River estu-ary coastal area and the countryside each have their own characteristic and have obvious daily variation being affected by underlying surfaces. The wind speed in countryside is the highest, and the vertical profile of wind and temperature tend to be stable.
