数学素质是理工科大学生开展科学研究的基本素质之一。大学数学教学涉及到几乎所有的大学本科生，范围广，时间紧，任务重。如何在普通高校里评价学生，使学生各取所需，完成好自定的目标和任务就成为一个非常重要且值得认真探讨的问题。文章采用实证研究方法，针对大学生数学素质所涉及相关要素开展了调查分析，提出了在大学数学教学中培养学生数学素质的方法和途径，为提高理工科大学生的数学素质给出了一些有益的探索和实践方法。

英文摘要：

Mathematical ability is one of the basic abilities for students from universities of technology to conduct scientific research. The teaching of university mathematics, which is related to nearly all college students, requirires teachers to spend less time completing more work with a wider extent. So how to help them master fundamental mathematical knowledge, principles, and methods, provide a solid foundation for their further work and study and improve their mathematical ability becomes a vital problem. In this article, the authors present the mathemati- cal ability needed in improving the mathematical teaching,make an assessment of students＇ mathematical ability according to surveys and analy- ses and put forward some methods on how to improve students＇ mathematical ability.
