This paper first proposes the concept of the absorptivity of information technology. According to the model of IS implementation process based on innovations diffusion proposed by Kwon and Zmud, this paper constructs a process model of information technology absorption, and points out that the absorptivity of information technology is composed by six kinds of capabilities, including recognition, adoption, adaptation, acceptance, infusion and knowledge management. Through questionnaire surveys and depth interview of 76 enterprises in the northeast area, it summarizes the essential mechanism factors of each capability.
