Based on patent co-authorships, it conducts a quantitative study on knowledge exchange patterns among Chinese regions. It aims to find out the characteristics of knowledge exchange patterns, and the different roles of well-developed and under-developed regions in knowledge exchange. Furthermore, it analyzes the reasons for such differences in knowledge exchange, and puts forward some suggestions on policies to stimulate the knowledge exchanges among different regions.
