By means of methods in experimental ecology, the survival rate of jellyfish scyphistomae bred under long-term low temperature conditions, and the effects of these conditions on the jellyfish strobilation are studied. It is shown in the study results that after scyphistomae reproduced from jellyfish strobilation has been bred under one-year long low temperature conditions, its survival rate is about 33%,significantly higher than that of scyphistomae without low temperature breeding conditions.Although those survivors have been bred under low temperature conditions for a long time, they still have their strobilation ability, and the ephyrae release rate is as high as 15%.Those ephyrae lavae will have their strobilation ability comparable with the ability of scyphistomae lavae bred under normal conditions. Therefore the long-term low temperature conditions are favourable to effectively raise the survival rate of jellyfish scyphistomae larvae and to improve jellyfish strobilation efficiency. These relevand results might be used as reference and guidance for jellyfish lava production.
