This paper is devoted to the applications of a mixed spectral method for a two - dimensional exterior problem, using Fourier and generalized Laguerre functions. We consider a nonlinear strongly damped wave equation. A mixed spectral scheme is proposed. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of this new approach.
