Lagrangian method is the main approach for numerical simulation of implosion dynamics. As to the implosion problems of high temperature, high pressure, multi-media and large deformation, the adaptive unstructured Lagrangian mesh fluid dynamics software LAD2D is researched and developed independently using the means such as underlying management of unstructured arbitrary polygon meshes, variable neighborhood mesh technology in calculation process, adaptive Lagrangian mesh refinement method, hierarchical and modular program design ideas and so on. Many aspects on LAD2D, including physical model, calculation method, program design and verification and validation, numerical simulation for the large deformation problems and so on, are systematically introduced. LAD2D is better adaptive for the multi-media detonation elastoplastic large deformation fluid problems.
