Because LiDAR has a strong ability to detect forest structure,the forest three-dimensional structure can be accurately obtained.Taking this in consideration,airborne large footprint LiDAR has been widely used in estimation of forest structure parameters.This paper introduces the working principle and the main technical specifications of airborne large footprint LiDAR system.It systematically summarizes the research status of forest structure parameter estimation by using airborne large footprint LiDAR data,while analyzing the limitations of this technique and prospecting its future.
